The Talk!
O.K. Today we were preparing food for a friend that just had a baby. I was putting icing on a cake and Leah says "yum yum". So I said "this cake is for the Hammetts." " Why are we taking a cake to the Hammetts?" she says. "Because they just had a new baby." "How did they get a new baby?" "God gave them a baby." " Why did God give them a baby?" "Because he knew they wanted one." "Why doesn't God give us a baby?" "Because he knows that Mama and Daddy don't need another baby to take care of right now." "OH!" SILENCE............ "When I get this many (holding up 4 or 5 fingers) God is going to give me a baby." "Well you have to get married first." "And I think you better just keep on taking care of the babies that you have, they are much easier to take care of." "OK" Nothing else was said until Emma gets into the car this afternoon. First thing out of Leah's mouth was "Emma, God gave the Hammetts a new baby." So sweet! I think this was good enough for now. Sometimes I do wonder what goes through there little minds, and today I got a little taste.

First Tomato
O.K. you may think this is kinda corny, but we are sooo excited, because I went out to our garden last night and we have our first tomato. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen (ok not the cutest). But still we are very excited. We have never grown our own garden before, but are making a good attempt at one this year. With produce prices sky rocketing, we thought we should try to grow some of the things that we like to eat. We are going in with our friends Jimmy & Jana, and are splitting everything. Wonder who will get to eat this first tomato?? I am sure I will be posting a lot more pictures soon, as this stuff will be coming right along. I am excited to share this experience with the girls, it is amazing to me the way God takes care of us, and it is so exciting to watch these plants produce food, just the way God designed and provided for us. God is AWESOME!!
Fish Shower
Nanny bought the girls a new fish shower about a month or so ago. The girls love it. It allows the water to come down to their level. The pressure is really light, so I hope that means not a lot of water comes out at one time because it takes them quite a while to get clean in there. I think (I KNOW) more playing goes on in there than anything else. Both of my girls hate for the water to get in their eyes. Neither one of them needs to be sitting in the water for a bath, so we thought this was a great idea. Let me tell you, they love to get in the shower. The first time Emma used it, when she got out she said "well, I guess I will HAVE to get in the shower again on Wed. night," then a puff of air. Just like she was really dreading it. Inside she just couldn't wait until Wed. night. She even wrote a story about it at school and read it to the entire class. Now all of her class mates and her teacher want one!! This was a great find!!

Zoo Trip
Emma had her 1st grade field trip on Tuesday, and we went to the NC Zoo. Todd, Leah and myself followed the charter bus to Asheboro, and had the best time. Emma was so excited to ride on a big bus that had a bathroom on it. They watched movies and had a great time on the bus. She rode home with us in the van. They watched movies in the van, but I don't think it was as exciting. Before we went into the Zoo we ate a picnic lunch in the parking lot of the Zoo. I got this great picture of Todd and the girls. Once we got into the Zoo, we only had about 2 hours to visit the animals. We had to kinda rush Emma along. Her little legs were really tired. Todd did carry her on his shoulders some. Of course, I was the only one allowed to push Leah in the stroller. She didn't want anyone else to have that job. Lucky me, I got to push the stroller up all those hills. It didn't hurt me to bad. I needed the exercise. We saw lots of animals, and when we left I asked each of them what was there favorite animal. Emma said the flamingos, and Leah said the elephants. I thought I would post a picture of there favorite ones. They had saved their money that they got from Papa Red and MeMe for Easter to take to the Zoo for a "prize". Emma got an eraser, multicolor writing pen, and a ring. Leah picked out a hat, and a cup with a giraffe for the handle. It was a great day, and everyone was quite tired when we got back home.
Feeding the Birds
Emma and Leah love to feed the birds. We tried to feed the ducks but the only thing around at the time were seagulls and canadian geese. Let me tell you, those seagulls rule the roost over there at that school. We went to a school where there were a bunch of geese and a ton of seagulls. We tried to give the poor geese some food, but the seagulls were very stingy(as Leah says). They kept taking food right from under the geese. Oh, well, better luck next time geese. The girls had the best time. It took quite a while to get rid of 2 loaves of bread. Emma kept yelling at the seagulls to be quiet(see picture below). Sorry Emma those birds just don't listen. They were a little loud. I was scared to death they were going to poop on my head. They were all over the top of us.
After we feed the birds, Leah decided to scare the life out of the birds. Everytime they would land in a spot she would run as fast as she could to run them off. Poor birds, but Leah had a great time. She would say, "Let's scare them birds!" Hey, it got a lot of energy out. Leah can always use an outlet for letting some energy go.Then they decided to throw rocks into the water. They threw so many rocks they couldn't find anymore. I had to help them. Leah had quite a wound up. She couldn't just throw the rock in. She had to swing one or two arms very hard back and forth until she thought she was quick enough to let the rock go. I thought she was going to end up in the water. We had the best time out there watching all of this fun.
Homemade Bagels!!
Recently we were making homemade bagels, and Leah came in and had a great time with the scraps. Both of the girls love to help make things in the kitchen. They also like to help me clean up the kitchen. Give them a little cleaner and a few paper towels, and they will go to town on the counters. Here is what Leah made with her scraps.

No more CVS!!
Alot of you know that Rachel and I have turned into coupon clipping crazy fools! I just had to post this picture. I don't even think that Rachel knew that I got this on camera. This is how sick our families are of us trying to find a deal. Rachel and I were in CVS trying to figure out how to use our coupons to get the most FREE stuff and Eli just couldn't hang any longer. We actually watched him nod his head back and forth while he was trying to hang, but finally he had to give it up. I took Rachels purse and tried to prop his head on it. We had to finish our transaction. We ended up getting 4 boxes of wipes, 4 bars of Johnsons kids soap, 2 boxes of medication, and only had to pay 40 cent. Thats right folks 40 cents. You would have let your child's head nod back and forth for a few minutes if you were getting all that for FREE!!
Love My Babies!!
Too Grown!!
When I looked at this picture I thought, OK this is going to be serious in a few years. A few weeks ago Emma wanted to call her Mema and Pa. It was so sweet. She called and I heard her say, "Well, I just wanted to check up on ya'll. Make sure you were doing good." She has such a sweet and thoughtful heart. After that phone call she wanted to call Meme and Papa Red (so we did). See what I mean, already one call after the other. I guess she learns that from me!!

Egg Hunt!
Rachel and I hid between 40-50 eggs filled with candy for the kids to find on Sunday afternoon. We had so much fun, and the kids really liked finding the eggs. They even wanted to put them all back and do it again. We had a egg race and the kids weren't the only ones in on the action. We all just had so much fun. Can't wait to do it again next year.
New Easter Outfits
The kids usually get new outfits for Easter Sunday. Thanks Nanny! They are to cute for words. These have to be the cutest kids in town. I look at these pictures and think about how fast they have grown. I can't believe that I am going to have a 4 year old and a 7 year old in September! Where does the time go? I hope that they grow to have a wonderful relationship with each other.
Easter Morning
We had to wake the girls up so they would have time to look at what the Easter Bunny brought before getting ready for church. Please don't judge Leah by the way she looks. I usually make sure her hair has had a little attention before anyone sees her. She will learn in time to take care of this herself (we hope). That husband of hers has something else coming to him.
Easter Fun!!
Saturday night we got together with some of our favorite people and had some fun. Rachel and Randy brought the boys over for some egg decorating, cookie cutting and pizza eating. Rachel and I filled up some plastic eggs with some candy for some fun easter egg hunting for Sunday. I know you are thinking that these gloves are to much, but lets face it, we didn't want them to have blue hands in there new outfits on Sunday. You gotta do, what you gotta do. We kept the children up way past there bedtime (we had to get this stuff done). All and all they did great a
nd we were ready fo
r some fun on Sunday.
Here we go!!
Well, I decided to hop on the ban wagon and join this website thing, so that everyone would look at my cute children too. I don't have alot of time in my schedule, but I do want to be able to keep everyone up to date on my two precious girls. They seem to grow so fast that I can't keep up myself, much less keep everyone else up to date. Hopefully I will be able to share some fun and cute things that we do. So HERE WE GO!!
