Big Big Girl Bed

Well, we finally got Leah a big big girl bed (her toddler bed was a big girl bed too). She is very excited about it. All though I also think she isn't quite comfortable with it yet. I still have to find a bed skirt to match, but here it is. I thought this quilt was cute, but when I found it on the clearance rack at T.J.Max for $20, it was the cutest thing I had ever seen!! I snatched that thing right up and brought it home to Leah. She was so cute. She wanted me to open it and put it on her right away. She wanted to try it out. I hope she doesn't fall off of the bed. Tonight is the first night that we have had the whole thing put together. For the first couple of days we only had the mattress. We had to wait for the foundation (box spring) to come in. If she falls off, I guess we will have to get a bed rail. She is a very restless sleeper. Flips and flops all over the place. In fact, Emma would like for us to move her to a different wall in the bedroom because she hits the wall all through the night with her arms, legs, feet, head (anything). This disturbs Emma in her room. You should see her sleep. It is the craziest thing I have ever seen. You really don't want to have the pleasure of sleeping with her. You don't get any good rest.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for Leah. I can't believe that it is already here. It just seemed like yesterday that I was pulling up in the parking lot dropping her off for the first time. She didn't even care for the record. I don't think she really understands that she is not going back until the fall. I know she is going to miss Mrs. Karen and her friends. Next year she will be in a totally different part of the building in a 4 year old class room. Where does the time go? She has learned alot and we have been so blessed to have had 2 great teachers this year. Mrs. Ann took a new job at the first of the year, and she got a Mrs. Karen when she went back after Christmas. Even with the change it was a great year, and Leah has really enjoyed it, and I can only hope that she will have another great year starting in the fall. Yeah Leah!! Great job, you have made me some of the cutiest things that I will treasure forever!

Painting

I bought these little things last summer so the kids would have a fun craft to do one day. We just found them and are painting them. Todd decided to get in on the action. Of course he had to make his look like a CAT machine. Men and their toys, they never grow up. I do like the price of this one!! They were really concentrating on them. Even Todd. After a few minutes they were ready to move on to something else. How long can it take to paint a 2" figurine? Emma's is the pony. Leah's is the car. Todd's is... you know which one is Todd's.

Bike Ride

Last Sunday we decided to take a stroll through the neighborhood and get out of the house for a while. Leah had been sick all weekend and finally felt like doing something. She wanted to get on this bike that we got at the yard sale I had with some friends. It is the perfect size for her and she really enjoys riding it. I am thrilled because all she ever wanted to do before is push her baby stroller. We ended up at the park for a little while and they rode around the loop and played on the equipment. Well, I think we wore her out, because she came home and fell right to sleep and slept untill 8:15. She still went to bed around 9:00 and slept. It is amazing how you can sleep so much when you are not feeling all that great.

Triple coupons!!

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Harris Teeter tripled coupons. Well, you know what that means, I was there! Here is a picture of Leah after we left Harris Teeter the SECOND time on Thursday. How do you sleep like this? I guess if you are as tired as she was, you will sleep any way you can.
Side Note: This outfit that Leah has on was the outfit that Emma wore on her first day of Kindergarden. They sure do grow fast. I like it when Leah grows into Emma's clothes. I always brings back good memories.

Checking the Weather

When we woke up Mother's Day, it was pouring rain outside. I thought this was a cute picture of Emma and Eli checking the weather before we left for church. Yes indeed we needed the umbrella's, as many as we could find.

You Eat Carrots!!

Last Wednesday night we were getting in the van to come home from church, and the interior light was on. Leah asked us to cut it off. Emma asked to leave it on. Common problem around here. Both wanting something different. Well, we said why do we need the light on Emma? Because I am not buckled yet (we were still in the parking lot).
Leah: You can see with out the light!
Emma: No I can't!
Leah: Yes you can!
Emma: No I can't!
Leah: I can see fine with out the light!
Emma: I know you can because you eat CARROTS!
I thought Todd and I would die, we laughed so hard.

Muffins for Mom Donuts for Dad

Thursday morning Leah's school had a Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dad breakfast. It was really cute. Leah made us the cutest stepping stone with her handprint on it. She made Daddy a footprint picture and Mama a handprint picture. I am going to put the stepping stone right next to the one that I have of Emma's little feet several years ago. Now I have a perfect set.

4 Wheeling Fun

Last weekend we went to Wilmington and spent some time with Grandaddy and Grandma Tee. Aunt Rachel wanted to get the 4 wheeler out. She really got something started. My girls had never been on one. They actually scare me to death. I am a little cautious. I am so scared they will fall off. They don't weigh enough to stay on the thing if they hit a bump. In fact if you look really close to the picture of Todd and Emma, right blow Todd's knee is a BIG hole where he had a bad accident on a 4 wheeler when he was a kid. Todd assured me that he would go slow. So-- here is the proof. Emma liked it a little to much. She also wanted to ride Kenneth's(a smaller version)so that she could do the steering. This does surprise me since she is usually scared to do anything. Leah also liked it but not as much as Emma. Leah rode around the field a couple of times and then she was done. This also surprised me since she is usually the dare devil. It was a nice visit and I think in a few more visits we may have Grandaddy convinced to get a POOL. Come on the kids would have a ball(as well as the adults)!!

Too Funny!!

A couple of days ago Emma and Leah were playing out in the back yard. Todd and I were talking at the table and I look outside and see Leah standing on the slide doing a little dance and holding herself (like she does when she need to use the bathroom). This is not an attractive sight. I was wondering if she was going to come in a use the bathroom. No, she got down off the slide and got up under the slide, pulled her pants, and panties down, and yes, you know what is coming next. She peed right there under the slide. I thought I would die. She pulled her pants up, then you could tell she was uncomfortable, and pulled her pants down again. She thought about this and looked at her pants, pulled them right back up and did quite a walk toward the back deck, up the stairs and into the house, where I could hardly contain myself. She walked right past Todd and me and started to go upstairs. I said "excuse me, what are you doing?" she giggled a little bit, and I asked her again. She giggled but finally said she needed to change her panties. I said "why do you need to change your panties?" She said "I peed under the slide!!" She thought this was too funny! Let me tell you, she was soaking wet. Apparently she didn't pull her pants down far enough. I told her she need to change more than just her panties, and she said OK. I also asked her to come in and use the toilet next time. I don't know where this child gets some of her ideas from. Sometimes I wonder was she suppose to be the boy!!

Mother's Day Tea

This morning I was invited to a Mother's Day Tea at Emma's school. It was very sweet. They had set up the children's desk out in the hallway. They had on the desk a paper placemat. On the placemat was a card that Emma had made for me. It said Mom you are my..... cup of tea. It was really sweet, she had decorated a tea cup on the inside with ice cream cones. We had a book on each desk that we read together, and we had donughts and ice tea. There was also a silk flower. It was really nice of the teachers to do this for us. It was a special time that we were able to spend together. I got right teary eyed when I looked around and saw all of these mothers with there children. I thought to myself, I am so blessed to be able to spend this time with Emma. So many people have crazy, important, time comsuming jobs, that doesn't allow them to always get to do these special things with their children and here I am enjoying my child. I know I have a crazy schedule, but I am so blessed that it is flexible enough that I can do these kind of things. This was a special Mother's Day memory for me.

Classroom Pet

Emma has a new classroom pet. It is this cute bunny that they named Oreo. She talks about this bunny all the time. She asked me to post a picture of it on this blog, so here it is. I told Emma not to get any ideas about us getting a bunny. We don't need anything else around here that needs to be fed! She went out this morning before school just to pick some dandelions for this bunny. It is sweet, but I guarantee you that if we had one, she wouldn't give a flip about it. That poor goldfish of hers barely gets any food. I don't know how the thing stays alive. By the way, we didn't ask for the goldfish either. It was "won" at a birthday party. Everybody got one. Wasn't that nice. Todd and I thought the thing would last maybe a week. No, two years old, and still swimming!!!

Day at the Park

Last weekend Rachel and I took the kids to the park near our house. We love that park. That is were I get most of my exercise, and the kids ask to go there just about everyday. We decided to take our lunch, and have a picnic, and fly some kites. I had bought these kites at Easter time, and we just haven't been able to fly them yet. Everytime the girls see the wind moving the trees a little bit, they ask if it is a good day to fly the kites. We finally had to do it. We had the best time. They got a lot of energy out running back and forth with the kites. We also took their bikes and Leah's baby stroller and walked/rode around the loop there. It was such a nice day and the kids had a great time. I am sure we will be out there again soon, just as soon as the girls see the wind blowing again.

YUMMY!!!

Last Wednesday Baskin Robbins was giving ice cream away for 31 cents a scoop to honor firefighters. We couldn't pass this deal up! So after bible study, we stopped by the Baskin Robbins to get our ice cream. You can't beat $1.24 for your whole family a nice little treat. In this picture Emma is pretending she still had some. She had already eaten all of her scoop. Can you guess what flavor Leah got! Her lips were still blue the next morning. And so is the spot we found under her carseat this morning!

Strawberries!

Emma loves strawberries, and that time of year is here. She was so excited when we told her that it was time to pick srawberries. We went and pick stawberries in Wilmington, where we pick them every year. Emma couldn't get enough. Leah would pick a few here and a few there, but Emma couldn't let any go by. She was a girl on a mission! Once we filled up our buckets, we were headed out of the field, and Emma kept stopping and pulling more off the plants. She kept saying " there is a good one". We just had to wait for her. She had the best time. It was a nice time. They both enjoyed the ice cream at end as well. (Please take note: this picture of Leah walking with nothing in hand, and Emma carring 2 buckets was such a Rachel and Rebecca moment!!)

We also went for a walk down on the waterfront downtown Wilmington. I wanted to get a good picture of the girls with the water in the background, or the bridge. Every time Emma would get close to the railling, Leah would say, "that not safe Emma." We put them up on the railling once to try to get a good shot(it was a little scary) and Leah did not like it at all!! The picture isn't great but I love that they are holding on to each other. Emma said to Leah" I'll hold on to you." Sometimes I just want to eat my kids, they can be so sweet and I love them so much.
