No More Wake-Ups!!

Well the final wake up was here and we were on our way. Our flight took off at 6:15 am. We were up at 3:30 am. The girls were so excited they jumped right up. I wasn't surprised. This is a picture of the girls when we were getting ready to leave for the airport at 4:30 am.

As soon as we got to our gate the girls said they were hungry, so Todd went to Cinnabon and got us some Cinnamon rolls. They were huge. I guess he thought we should get this vacation started of right. I couldn't even eat all of mine. This picture didn't do the thing justice. This box is like the size of a BIG MAC, and they cost us $20, and Todd left the leftovers on the next plane(URRR!). He wanted to try to get back on the plane and get them, but I had seen the ladies cleaning up as we were getting off the plane. Oh, well, not the first or last thing we will waste!

Leah didn't know what to expect on the plane. She had never been on a plane before. Well, she had but in my belly!! She was a little nervous and told me that she would like to hang on to me. I thought that was so sweet, I had to take a picture. Emma thought the plane was a little loud for her, so she plugged her ears up.

Pretty soon after the plane took off the girls were fast asleep. Leah totally missed the landing. She didn't even know she had missed anything. I had to carry her off the plane. I tried to wake her up, but it didn't work. Oh well, there were plenty more for her to experience.

After we got to Nashville, we were actually delayed, so I went and found a word search book, and Todd got us some snacks, and we entertained ourselves until it was time for the last leg of the trip. Todd had loaded Hannah Montana on his IPod for Emma to listen to on the plane, and for a special little touch he put a hot pink cover on it. She looked to grown sitting there eating her skittles and listening to her music. Who told her she was old enough to have a preference in music anyway?

Eventually we were in the line to board the plane for Houston. The girls knew that they would see Aunt Katie and Uncle Nick when we got off of the next plane. This is a terrible picture of Leah, but they were really excited.

Once again Leah missed the landing, but that's ok, because she was getting some sleep. We all knew that if we were going to have a good afternoon, Leah needed to get her sleep. We were finally there all of the wake ups were over and we were finally going to get to see Aunt Katie and Uncle Nick. Who do you think was leading the way? No one was going to beat her to it! She wasn't slowing down. She would get her hug first!

More to come soon. It takes awhile to load and update all of this. I have to do it in stages. I do have other things I have to do today!

Fun Weekend

On Father's Day weekend we decided to head to Wilmington a little early so that we could let the kids have some fun at the beach. They had a great time, but Rachel and I were worn out because Eli wouldn't stay out of the ocean. He would run full force out there, let the waves mow him down, get up laughing and go back for it. It was making me very nervous. Emma was a little mother hen. Weighing in about the same as Eli, she thought she would hold on to him to keep him safe. It was very sweet. All in all everyone had a great time.

This is what happened when Leah discovered the terrible feeling of beach sand in your bathing suit. She was not thrilled!!

We also got fresh haircuts this weekend. We were getting ready for our big trip to Texas. This was actually Leah's first real haircut. She had been telling me everytime I took Emma to get her's cut that she wanted her's cut to. Well, I wasn't really sure what to do with Leah's hair, and was afraid for anybody to get a hold of it and make it look crazy. I had been just trimming up the ends and trying to let her hair even out a alittle, but it was time. When it was time for her to get in the chair, she changed her mind, she started screaming, but I quickly changed her mind back. I don't know what she thought they were going to do. They cut quite a bit off and layered it up some. It looks a lot better, but I think it needs to be layered some more. Maybe next time. Emma got a bunch cut off. It turned out really cute. I told her she was to young to look like a second grader. She thought that was funny.

Then, it was off to Grandaddy and Grandma Tee's house for dinner. We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed the watermelon. They couldn't get enough of it. I think my kids may turn into a watermelon before the end of the summer. They want it all the time, and once they start eating it, it's like they can't stop.

Surprise!!

The BIG Surprise!!

Todd and I had been holding a secret from everybody for quite a while(no i am not pregnant). We had decided to go to Texas for a family vacation and spend time with Uncle Nick and Aunt Katie. We were so excited because it was a BIG surprise for Nick and for the girls. They had no idea. They had been wanting to go see them so bad, but we just kept telling them it was to far to drive and that there was no way we could afford the plane tickets. Well, about three months ago we found some good deals on tickets and we made arrangements to go to Texas. We decided not to tell the girls until the week before we left, because they really don't have any concept of time and I knew that 3 months was too long for them to count down the wake ups, and I didn't want them to tell Uncle Nick on the phone. Here are some pictures of how we told the girls. We put a big envelope in the mailbox addressed to each one. Those of you who really know the girls, know that they love to get stuff in the mail. Inside were 3 things for them to open in order. First, a matchbox airplane. Second, a pretend airline ticket addressed to each one for the date that we were leaving. And then third, a picture of Texas. Emma had it figured out at this point, but Leah was just playing around with the airplane. I didn't figure she would get into it that much, but I was sure Emma would play along. Last, I had put a letter in Emma's envelope for her to read, telling them about what we were doing and when. They were so excited, they could hardly contain themselves. Then we started counting down the wakeups.

Pool Time!!

Well with the temperature rising to 102 degrees, something has to be done to keep the kids cool when they play outside. So this weekend Meme left us some money to get a pool. The kids were so excited they wanted to go right away and get it. Well we got a really good size pool. The only problem was, I couldn't find the attachment to pump it up with the air compressor on the van(Todd happen to be out of town, lucky him!). So here are the girls asking "when are we going to be able to get in it." Well the only thing I could find was a foot pump to an air mattress. It took me 1 and a half hours to fill this thing up with air. I was really sick of the pool by this point. I was also really ready to put the kids outside, they had played in and out and on the pool the whole entire time I was trying to pump it up. I felt like I was having to chase the pool around. Anyhow, they really had a great time. I plan on getting in myself pretty soon. Thanks Meme!!

Yummy Veggies!!

I think those are the sweetest little hands holding that tomato.

I am so excited about this tomato. I have been watching it grow from that tiny green ball that I first posted. Well, now it is time to eat it. I think we will have it on our salad tomorrow night. I can't wait to taste it. I hope that I am not disappointed, because there are a bunch more growing really fast right behind it. I will let you know!

We were able to pull up our lettuce this past week. We haven't eaten it yet, but will tomorrow night. I can't wait. We also weeded out the carrotts to give the others space to grow. The girls wanted to try them so I took them inside and washed them off, and they gave them a good taste. Emma said,"Mom these are tasty and juicy!"

Just Me and My Dad

Today while Leah was sleeping, Todd and Emma went for a bike ride around the neighborhood. They looked so sweet out there together. Todd is such a good Daddy. He loves spending time with his girls.

I recently read in a children's book the phrase "I love my Daddy because he lets me pick out my own clothes." Well if you could have seen Emma's clothes today, you would have thought, why on earth does she have that outfit on. Well the reason is, Todd let her pick out her clothes today. He didn't even know about the book that I had read. You can't tell from the pictures, but she has on 2 different shades of green, and the shirt has one flower print on it, and the skort has a very different flower print on it. She rode all over the neighborhood like this, and played with her friends next door. I bet that mom was thinking, what do you have on? She just doesn't know how much her Daddy loves her!!

Beauty Shop at MeMe's

Emma and Leah like to brush MeMe's hair. Well this turned into a ball of laughs. Once I told MeMe how crazy she looked and that I was going to get a few good pictures for my blog, they really started acting crazy. MeMe didn't want to be posted on the blog with her hair plastered to her head. Trust me she looks really good in these pictures. She wouldn't let me get one of the great job my children did on her head. Every time they would plaster it to her head, she would fluff it back out. Oh well, better luck next time girls!!

Happy Birthday Papa Red!!

We went to MeMe and Papa Reds this weekend.

The girls helped MeMe water the flowers. We also went to the mall, and it started to pour down rain. So instead of getting soaking wet, we decided to hang out there for a while. I know the girls thought they were at a carnival, because MeMe let them ride all of the little rides.

We had a cook out and celebrated Papa Reds 55th Birthday. The girls helped make and decorate a cake for Papa. We had a great time. We wish we had more time to spend with them. Maybe we can go back soon. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA RED!!!
