We decided to go to Ft. Fisher for a picnic on Memorial Day. We use to go down there once a week when we were younger, and have a picnic with Peto and her kids and Mama and us (that sounds really back woods, so I am going to leave the comment, because I am laughing right now writing it). We decided to get one of those throw away grills and cook some hot dogs. I was so excited because I have some of the fondest memories there, and I couldn't wait to take the girls. When we finally lit up the grill, I thought we would burn all of those beautiful trees down. The wind was blowing really hard, and the flames were getting really big. Todd had sand in his hand ready to throw on the thing to extinguish the flames. I held him off, because I didn't really want an ice cold hot dog. Now looking back. It was very scary. Todd said we were going to be in the Federal Prison if we burnt down all of those trees. Finally the flames went down and we were able to cook the hot dogs.
Then we decided to take the food back to the car and take the girls down to the water to put our feet in. On our way back through the trees, we saw this sign. We didn't see it before when we went out there to set up. I really felt like a rebel. Good thing we didn't burn the place down. I can't believe we didn't get a ticket!
Emma loved staying right at the water getting her feet wet. Leah liked to stay in the sand. We had the best time, it was a really great day!!
We ended our day with some sparklers!!
